Happy New Year friends! I am suuuuper excited about the new year! I had a really great planning session two weeks ago and I’m all pumped and refocused for 2016! I wanted to start it off with a post about what you can expect from Life With My Littles this year, just so you know where we’re headed!
First of all, I’m sticking to three posts a week. It’s been working well for me and I don’t want to do any more or less. My family comes first, and I can usually get out three posts a week during naptime.
Second, I am trying to focus more on my writing since one of my goals this year is to get featured on The Huffington Post (since it never happened last year, booooo). So I’m going to be writing a lot about motherhood and trying to be as real and open as possible. Posts similar to this, this, and this.
I also am going to continue sharing a lot of pregnancy and baby-related posts, since that’s what I love and what I’m good at. My babies are both toddlers now, so there’ll be a focus on that, too, but I also just love pregnancy and seriously want to write about it all the time.
Another thing I’m going to post about is a monthly update about what’s going on with me. I don’t share a ton of personal stuff, but I feel like it’s hard to connect with someone when they don’t, and some of my favorite bloggers give little updates on what’s going on with them, so I want to start doing the same. I don’t think enough happens with us to give weekly updates, but I can definitely do monthly ones!
If you haven’t signed up for the Mommy Monthly Newsletter, do it now. I have lots more great posts to share with subscribers and awesome free printables to send out each month. You can sign up here if you’re not already on the list. And I only send out one email at the beginning of each month, so I promise I won’t fill up your inbox with annoying spam!
Also (and this is a biggie), I’m going to start writing a book! I’ve been wanting to do this for a while now, and I honestly have no idea where to begin, but I really want to do it. I love writing and I think it would just be so legit to say I wrote a book. I don’t know if I’ll finish by the end of the year, but I’m going to start this year!
I also just started contributing to the website She Teaches Fearlessly. We are a team of LDS women who are dedicated to answering President Nelson’s call in the October 2015 LDS Conference. Together, we teach fearlessly the gospel in our homes, neighborhoods and communities. Sometimes I feel like I can’t share experiences or posts the way I want to on my blog because of how spiritual they are, and I don’t want to shortchange any of the things I am writing about (like when I had to take Little J to the emergency room last month). I want to talk about my religion because it’s a big part of my life, and She Teaches Fearlessly is the way I’m going to do that. Even if you aren’t LDS, come check us out because we really want to help uplift and inspire other women in our crazy, messed up world. It’s an amazing site and I’m excited to help it grow.
Another thing I want to do is start a car seat safety awareness campaign. I want to have everything up and running before National Child Passenger Safety Week in September, so keep an eye out for this one! I have seen SO MANY PEOPLE either not putting their kids in car seats the right way, or even not using car seats, and it makes me so sad. Honestly I think people just don’t know what is right and what is wrong. So I’m going to help spread the word!
Last, I want to give you a few updates on what’s going to be going on for the Johnsons in 2016 so you know kind of where I’m coming from with my posting. First, the Mister will be graduating from medical school in May! Finally! We are so excited! We don’t know where we’re moving yet, but we’ll find out on March 18th (THE MATCH!). We’re planning on moving in May right before or after graduation. He’ll start residency on July 1st, and we’ll be there for either a year or four, depending on what happens in the match (it’s complicated). But guys, it’s going to be amazing for him to actually start getting paid instead of paying to go to school. We can’t wait!
Thanks for following me along on this journey, and if you have a shop and want to collaborate or want to work with me some other way, you can send me an email at email@example.com.
